Hey guys, so Tata Motors has been launching the new Sierra in a very planned way, revealing prices and details little by little over the last month. The car starts from ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’s a proper mid-size SUV. It will compete with all the popular ones like Maruti Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Tata’s own Curvv, and Honda Elevate.

Now Tata has finally shown the full exterior and interior pictures of all variants. Today let’s talk about the entry-level one – the Smart+ variant.

Price

  • Petrol (Revotron turbo) – ₹11.49 lakh
  • Diesel (Kryojet) – ₹12.99 lakh (All prices are ex-showroom)

Both versions come only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. No automatic option in this base Smart+ trim.

What you get in Smart+ variant

Even though it’s the starting model, Tata has packed quite a lot of nice features:

  • Bi-LED projector headlamps (looks very modern)
  • Electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs)
  • Powered tailgate (you can open the boot with a button – very useful)
  • Rear window sunshades (good for backseat passengers)
  • Electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto-hold function
  • Auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror (IRVM)
  • Rear AC vents for backseat people
  • Dual-tone colour option available
  • Flush door handles (gives a clean, premium look)
  • 45W fast Type-C charging port
  • All four wheels have disc brakes
  • LED DRLs and LED tail lights
  • All four power windows

Safety features

Safety is one area where Tata is really strong these days. In Smart+ you get:

  • 6 airbags (front, side and curtain)
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • Hill Hold Assist (HAC)
  • Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA)
  • Traction Control System (TSC)
  • Reverse parking sensors
  • Puncture repair kit
  • Height-adjustable seat belts for front seats
  • And some more standard safety stuff

Colours available

The base Smart+ variant is available only in three colours right now:

  1. Pristine White
  2. Pure Grey
  3. Coorg Clouds (this one looks really nice in photos)

Overall, I feel Tata has done a decent job with the entry-level Smart+ variant. It’s not stripped-down like some base models from other companies. You get LED lights, six airbags, good safety tech, and even some premium touches like powered tailgate and fast charging port. For someone who wants a new mid-size SUV under ₹12-13 lakh, this looks like a solid choice.

What do you guys think? Is the base variant worth considering or would you save some more and go for a higher trim?
