Price Increase Announcement

Nissan Motor India announced on December 24, 2025, that they are going to increase the prices of their cars by up to 3% starting from January 1, 2026. Right now, the company only sells one model in India, which is the Magnite compact SUV. So this price hike will affect only the Magnite for now.

The company didn’t really explain why they are doing this, but people in the industry think it’s because of higher costs for materials and changes in currency rates. Many other car companies like Mercedes-Benz, BYD, and MG have also said they will raise prices for similar reasons.

How Much More Expensive Will the Magnite Be?

Currently, the ex-showroom price of the Nissan Magnite starts at around ₹5.62 lakh and goes up to ₹10.76 lakh, depending on the variant. With a 3% increase, the prices could go up by about ₹17,000 to ₹32,000. That means the new price range might be from ₹5.79 lakh to ₹11.08 lakh ex-showroom.

Earlier this year, Nissan had actually lowered the Magnite’s prices by ₹52,000 to almost ₹1 lakh because of some changes in GST rules. But now, with rising costs, they are increasing it again. It’s a bit disappointing for buyers who were hoping for cheaper cars.

Nissan’s Future Plans in India

Nissan is not just focusing on the Magnite right now. They have big plans to launch more cars soon. The company has confirmed they will bring out three new models by 2027. This includes a compact MPV called Gravite coming in early 2026, a mid-size SUV named Tekton later in 2026, and then a proper 7-seater SUV in 2027.

The 7-seater will be based on the same platform as some Renault models, but Nissan says it will be quite different and designed specially for families who need more space. They hope these new launches will help them sell more cars and get a bigger share in the Indian market. At the moment, Nissan is putting all efforts into making the Magnite successful and preparing for these upcoming models.

Overall, even with the price going up a little, the Magnite is still a good option in its segment because of its features and looks. But if you’re planning to buy one, maybe do it before the new year to save some money!
