A Little About Mahindra First

Mahindra is actually one of the oldest car companies in India. It started in 1945 when two brothers – J.C. Mahindra and K.C. Mahindra – teamed up and first did steel trading. After two years they started assembling Willys Jeeps, and slowly they became proper car makers. Now the company is huge, they make tractors (world’s no.1 tractor company!), SUVs, trucks, even electric cars. Anand Mahindra (grandson of the founder) is the chairman and he is super active on Twitter too. Right now Mahindra is doing really good in sales – November 2025 they sold more than 92 thousand vehicles and SUV sales crossed 56 thousand in one month. That’s crazy growth!

Big News – XUV 7XO is Coming!

Okay, the main thing. Mahindra just dropped the first teaser today (8 December 2025) and confirmed that the facelifted XUV700 is launching on 5th January 2026. And they are giving it a new name – XUV 7XO (pronounced seven-ex-oh). Current XUV700 price starts from 13.66 lakh and goes till 23.71 lakh ex-showroom. The new one will definitely cost more because of all the extra features.

It will fight with Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and even Mahindra’s own Scorpio N.

How It Looks From Outside

I have seen so many spy pics on Instagram and YouTube. Front gets a big upright grille with lots of chrome slats, new dual-pod LED projector headlights (looks very sharp), big air dam and a new bumper with wide silver skid plate. Side might get fresh 18-inch alloy wheels. Rear has connected LED tail lamps and redesigned bumper. They will add some new colours also – both single tone and dual tone.

Inside the Cabin – Super Luxurious Now!

The interior is the biggest upgrade. It will have THREE screens in a row – one for driver info, big touchscreen in middle and one more for passenger (just like Mercedes but cheaper). Seats are beige colour, light theme, looks premium. Top models will get:

  • Massaging seats in front
  • Ventilated seats in second row (only in 6-seater)
  • 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system
  • Colour changing mood lights
  • Extra wireless charger
  • Sliding middle row seats

Old good features stay – panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, powered driver seat, dual zone AC, ventilated front seats, everything.

Safety Stuff

Safety is strong – 7 airbags (6 standard I think), 360 camera, tyre pressure sensor, electronic parking brake, ISOFIX, and Level-2 ADAS which means:

  • Auto emergency braking
  • Lane keep assist
  • Forward collision warning
  • Adaptive cruise control probably

So very safe for highway and city both.

Engine and Power
No change in engines, same as current XUV700:

  1. 2.0 litre turbo petrol – 200 PS power, 380 Nm torque
  2. 2.2 litre diesel – 185 PS, 450 Nm torque

Both engines get 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Petrol is only front wheel drive. Diesel gets AWD option with automatic gearbox – perfect for off-road trips.

My Thoughts
Honestly, I am very excited for this car. Mahindra is giving Mercedes type features at half the price. If they keep the pricing sensible (maybe 15-16 lakh starting), it will destroy the competition. Already XUV700 is super popular, this 7XO will take it to next level. Just 28 days left for launch, counting days!

What do you think – will you buy it or wait for Tata Safari facelift? Let me know in comments! 😄
